Over twenty years ago, Newaygo County began to develop a snowmobile trail system. Various clubs worked with the Newaygo County Parks Commision, U.S. Forest Service, and landowners to develope the trails.

The network grew and today Newaygo County has nearly 100 miles of marked, groomed trails that wind through the Manistee-Huron National Forest and over several old logging roads.

If you are looking to snowmobile or ice fish, Newaygo County is the place to visit. If you wish to combine these winter activities, you will be pleased to find that Newaygo County offers you a great opportunity to do just that! Combined winter activities are sure to provide a funfilled winter getaway for the entire family.



Cross-country skiers find that the North Country Hiking Trail or the U. S. Forest Service Hungerford Lake Cross-Country Ski Trail to their liking.



The backwaters of Hardy and Croton Dams offer excellent ice fishing possibilities for Walley and Perch. The 234 natural lakes in the county provide their share of good panfish.
